Crockett & Jones Shoes

Crockett & Jones has been making shoes by hand in Northampton since 1879. We stock the styles our customers return for season after season: the Oxford lace ups, the Boston penny loafer, the Chiltern chukka boots, alongside a selection of selected accessories . If you're considering your first pair of Crockett & Jones, the sections below cover what you need to know. How they're made. How to size them and how to care for them.

Our curated selection

Every pair of Crockett & Jones footwear we offer comes directly from the factory in Northampton, complete with original packaging, dust bags, guarantee, and full factory support for resoling in the years ahead.

Visit our shop to try a pair in person, or order through our website with complimentary shipping. If there is a particular style you are interested in that is not currently part of our selection, please get in touch with our team, as we may be able to source it for you directly.

Crockett & Jones' craftmanship

Crockett & Jones has been family-owned since 1879. Five generations. Every pair is made in their Grade II listed factory on Carey Street, takes around eight weeks, and passes through more than 200 stages. The construction is Goodyear welted, which means the sole is stitched to the upper rather than glued. Slower and more expensive to make. Also the reason a pair can be resoled three or four times instead of binned.

Shoe sizing and fit guide

Crockett & Jones uses standard UK sizing, so if you've owned a pair of Church's, Loake, or Cheaney, you'll be in the same range. Fit varies more by last than by size, and most styles run slightly long. For unlined like the Boston loafers, drop half a size for stretch. Unsure which size to go for? Get in touch and we'll help you find the right fit.

Shoe care

Two principles cover most of it. Rotate your pairs, never wearing the same shoes on consecutive days, and insert cedar shoe trees the moment you take them off. Brush after each wear and polish once a month with Saphir, which the factory itself uses and recommends. When the soles eventually wear through, it is recommended to resole them, which can be done directly in the Crockett & Jones factory by shipping your pair.
